Africa is one of the remaining places people can see exotic animals living in their natural habitats. I traveled to Africa last spring, where I realized that while there are dwindling patches of "wild," in South Africa the land available to animals is divided into parks and reserves. This picture, taken at a lion Park where I volunteered, expresses the plight of African animals. Contained in small areas when they once ruled the entire continent, they are bought and sold, bred for profit, and displayed for an audience eager to see an idealized Africa, regardless of the truth.
