Colors of Electricity
Allegra Williams ’07
In collaboration with NASA, my father initiated a global warming research project in Niger last summer, in which my entire family partook. Thunderstorms arrived by night in the absence of rain. Women harvested peanuts tirelessly by day across the desert. Despite the drought, vitality continued in Niger. Each lightning flash was illuminated like the faces of these two women carrying firewood to kindle flames, like the bright, geometric landscapes of their cloth. This image symbolizes the unforgettable electricity that was maintained by both the people and their environment.
