I studied abroad for the year in Rome, but I took this photograph while visiting my fellow MHC student and friend Tina Pratt in Bologna, Italy. The city's red covered archways (along with its political leanings) have earned it the nickname of Bologna the Red. This photograph captures an insight into one of the most time-honored traditions of Italian life, la passeggiata, or “walk”! To me, the shadows and repeated walk signs in this picture represent the concept of the flow of time in Italy; it is taken as slow and continuous as a stream of honey.
