Insight on Russian Culture in France

Honorable Mention

Vacationing in southern France offers more than Mediterranean cuisine, vast vineyards, and breathtaking scenery. It is a region of artistic and cultural diversity — an opportunity to discover interesting traditions. This is largely due to the influx of immigrating peoples from previous centuries. The Russian orthodox cathedral, constructed in 1912 under Nicolas II and known for its six onion-like domes, pink bricks, and marble exterior, symbolizes Russian presence and offers a stunning contrast to the Mediterranean atmosphere. Haphazardly finding an architectural marvel as this offers valuable insight on how our surroundings often are more profound than expected.
