In order to provide international students with a chance to experience this uniquely American holiday by spending it with a family in the U.S., the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives is sponsoring two programs (on and off campus) for which you may apply. This year Thanksgiving is on Thursday, November 26th. Thanksgiving Break begins on Wednesday, November 25th and ends on Sunday, November 29th.
Members of the Class of 1980, who live in the New England and New York area have graciously agreed to host international students for all or part of Thanksgiving Break. This is a tradition established a few years ago which allows international students to spend time off campus with a MHC alumna and her family during this break. You are responsible for transportation costs. If taking a bus or train, you should plan to arrive at the bus or train station in the city nearest to your host's home. Your host will likely be able to pick you up there. Bus and train schedules are available online.
To participate in the off-campus program, please fill out the application online (just click on the line or box and type), print it out, sign it and drop it in the box labeled Thanksgiving Break in the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives. The deadline for submission of applications for an off-campus host is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2015. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
If you prefer to stay on campus during Thanksgiving Break, but would like to have dinner with a family in South Hadley on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 26, 2015), this is also possible. Families will provide transportation to and from MHC.
To participate in the on-campus program, please fill out the application online (just click on the line or box and type), print it out, sign it and drop it in the box labeled Thanksgiving Break in the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives. The deadline for submission for a local host is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 30, 2015. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
