Thanksgiving Hosting for New First-Year International Students
In order to provide new, first-year international students and those who entered last spring with a chance to experience this uniquely American holiday by spending it with a family in the U.S., the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives is sponsoring a special off-campus hosting program for which you may apply. This year Thanksgiving is on Thursday, November 22. Thanksgiving Break begins on Tuesday, November 21 and ends on Sunday, November 25.
Alumnae Hosting (off campus)
Members of the Class of 1980, as well as other alums who live in the New England and New York area, have graciously agreed to host international students for all or part of Thanksgiving Break. This tradition, begun over 15 years ago, allows international students to spend time off campus with a MHC alum during this break. You will need to speak to your host and find out how long the alum can host you. You should not assume that you may spend the entire break with the alum. Also note that you are responsible for transportation costs. If taking a bus or train, you should plan to arrive at the bus or train station in the city nearest to your host's home. Your host will likely be able to pick you up there. Bus and train schedules are available online.
To participate in this program, please fill out the application form, print it out, sign it and drop it in the box labeled Thanksgiving Break in the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives. The deadline for submission of applications for this program is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 1, 2018. We will do our best to accommodate all requests.
