The Solidarity and Social Investment Fund of Chile (Fondo de Solidardid e Inversión Social or FOSIS) is a governmental organization that develops and implements social programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty and promoting social inclusion. FOSIS programs support the development of small business with micro-credit financing, fight against secondary school attrition through community mentoring programs, and develop youth employability by bringing job training opportunities to the communities. FOSIS was established in 1990; it has 15 regional directorates and 20 provincial offices, and annually serves 120,000 beneficiaries.
The intern will work under the supervision of the Regional Director and the Head of the Department for Institutional Development on an assessment of current FOSIS interventions. As part of the impact assessment, the intern will identify the demand for services relating to employment and entrepreneurship within specific geographic and administrative areas.
The intern must be fluent in Spanish. Neither FOSIS staff nor clients or beneficiaries speak English.
