Injection, Palpitation, and Nebulization: A Three Month Crash Course in Wildlife Rehabilitation

Wildlife rehabilitation encompasses the care of a wide variety of animals with an incredible range of ailments. From fostering orphaned baby squirrels to microchipping raccoons, I had the opportunity to experience three months in the life of a wildlife rehabilitator. I shadowed medical staff as they did intake exams on injured and orphaned animals and learned techniques in diagnosing and treating disease and injury. I gained exposure to the field of animal science and became comfortable handling a wide variety of animals while contributing to the survival of wildlife affected by human interaction.
