Provides leadership, coordination for planning and budget setting and general direction setting for LITS.
Campus Technology & Media Support
Provides a coordinated approach to lab, classroom, desktop, and campus event technology support
Installs and maintains desktop computers for faculty and staff, and for public computer labs, departmental labs, residence hall clusters and classrooms.
Community Technical Support
Provides timely and informed resolution to computer hardware and software needs of the MHC community. Responds to and tracks service and technical support requests via walk-in service at the Help Desk, IM (mhc2600), phone (x2600) and the online support tracking tool, Samanage.
Provides walk-in support at the help desk for software use, internet access, and Web development. Provides staffing and support in centralized LITS computer labs, including the Mediated Educational Workspace (MEWS) and the Information Commons. A student diagnostic service provides general computer troubleshooting for student owned computers. Coordinates with other LITS teams to provide technical training for faculty, staff and students.
Provides research support, project development, and the design, construction, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment for the College. The department also provides circulating equipment (e.g. mini-dv cameras, digital cameras) for academic purposes, and acquisition of films and videos for teaching and learning.
Discovery & Access
Keeps collections vital and up to date, manages library systems that facilitate users' discovery and access of information resources, assists users, and supports exhibits and programming to showcase the collections.
Access Services (Including Circulation and Reserves)
Manages the physical collection and provides access to information resources
Archives and Special Collections
Collects, organizes, houses, preserves and makes available rare books, records and manuscript collections that document the history of the College and supports the research needs of the community.
Acquires and makes available all forms of library materials selected by faculty and members of LITS for addition to the permanent collections of the College. Provides metadata for intellectual access to printed materials, media and electronic resources, and maintains the physical collection through binding and preservation services. Provides access to resources beyond the Library's collection through services including Interlibrary Loan and document delivery.
Digital Assets & Preservation Services
Oversees digital repository systems, standards, policies and workflows. The Digitization Center offers service and support with scanning, eReserves and multimedia projects.
Research & Instructional Support
Combines traditional Academic Computing and Library Reference into one organization that works directly with faculty and students in support of their teaching and learning needs.
Works in partnership with faculty to integrate library resources, research tools and methods as well as new technologies and media into courses in a way that will enhance the curriculum. Works with students at the Research Help Desk, in individual consultations and through group instruction to improve their research and technology skills and general information fluency. Monitors library and instructional technology trends for useful innovations and stays in contact with developments in these fields.
Provides coordination for the work of building and reviewing print and electronic collections that support the College's curriculum.
Technology Infrastructure & Systems Support
Supports and guides the technical development of the campus network, administrative systems, and technical aspects of the web.
Administrative Computing implements, develops and provides access to all campus computing services, applications and servers in keeping with evolving technologies. We partner with departments to enable them to use technology creatively to accomplish their goals, to improve efficiencies and restructure workflow
Develops systems to serve the mission of the college through data analysis and systems integration.
Networking, Systems, & Applications Support
Provides and maintains effective methods of electronic communication and effective access to and transfer of electronic information. The environment in which electronic communications, information access, and information transmission exists will be an optimal balance of reliability, safety and security, functionality, and ease of use.
Develops and maintains the college website and related web applications.
