- Janet has been a Reference Librarian at Mount Holyoke since 1994 and recently added to her duties and her title to become Reference & Integrated Technologies Librarian. Starting from June 1, 2013, she is also serving as the Interim Director of the Research & Instructional Support team. She was previously a research librarian at the National Research Council (National Academy of Sciences/National Academy of Engineering/Institute of Medicine) in Washington, DC. She spent part of her youth growing up in South Hadley and ultimately working at a few different jobs here at MHC before heading off to graduate school. She returned to the area, and the college, after tiring of the traffic and the hyper-politics of our otherwise lovely nation's capitol. She currently lives in Sunderland with her partner, Alice, who is a managing editor for the Northeast Foundation for Children & Responsive Classroom. She maintains an interest - if not much activity - in horses, especially dressage and eventing, and has a horse named Ashley who currently serves as a beautiful pasture ornament and herd boss on a friend's Worthington farm. When time & funds allow, Janet enjoys travelling and has at least touched foot in 47 states and a few Canadian provinces, as well as caught a glimpse of England, France, Italy, Japan (Okinawa), China, Tibet, and Taiwan.
