We (Anne B., James G. , Mary H., Sarah O., Nick P., Jason P., Alex W-C) are planning the LITS Open House which will be held Thursday, March 17 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.
As with last year's open house, the event will be a celebration and showcase of the full range of work we do in LITS. We hope to make some of the invisible work we do for the college visible. We think the open house is a great opportunity to
- raise the level of conversation on campus about the current state of information services;
- reinforce ideas we have been communicating throughout the year;
- highlight collaborators and collaborations across campus and the Five Colleges.
Why We Need You!
We will depend on you, our colleagues in LITS, to pull off this show-and-tell event. We hope that you and your collaborators will share the work you are doing with the rest of us. As you saw last year, "posters" can take many forms. They can be traditional paper-based posters, or computers, with or without handouts. We want to encourage you to be creative in thinking how you might present information in a relatively limited space (plan on no more than 4 feet of width to work with) in a way that will encourage conversations between visitors and you, the poster presenter(s). Often, very simple posters are most effective at conveying information and starting a conversation.
We are happy to talk with you about ideas you may have or about poster formats. You will be presenting work you already have done, so it should not involve a lot of new work.
No later than close of business Monday, January 31, 2011, propose one or more posters by completing the form at external link: http://bit.ly/e0AorA
Sincerely, Anne B., James G. , Mary H., Sarah O., Nick P., Jason P., Alex W-C
