Supported Hardware

The LITS Help Desk supports diagnostics and repair for all COLLEGE OWNED computer equipment. All systems must be tagged and logged into MHC's Computing Inventory before repairs can be performed. Please contact the Help Desk with any questions, x2600.

All MHC faculty and staff desktop computers are replaced on a 4-5 year rotation plan according to our Computer Replacement Support Strategy. Each year, LITS purchases standard supported desktop and laptop hardware to replace computers that have reached the end of their rotation time on campus.  Faculty and staff members who need to request a computer that differs from our current hardware standards stated below, and/or who need to request a new computer purchase outside the standard 4-5 year rotation plan, should fill out and submit a Computer Special Request Form

For any non-standard technology we strongly suggest you purchase warranty support and consider it as part of the cost when making the decision

Thinking of purchasing a new personal computer? See our Personal Purchases page for links to educationally priced vendors, suggested specifications and recommendations.  As the Help Desk does not support personally-owned systems here is a listing of Alternate Repair Solutions.

Hardware Specifications

The following tables outline the specifications of the systems we plan to install on campus during the upcoming year. If you are considering the purchase of a new computer, we recommend that you consider a similar system. There are pre-customized, educationally priced systems available for you to consider; see Purchasing a New Computer.
