Spring 2016 Events
Pangy Day: Cultivating Cultures
Friday, April 22nd from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, front patio of Ciruti
On Pangy Day 2016 (Friday, April 22nd), the Language Resource Center drew crowds to the front patio of Ciruti. Despite the impending thunderstorm, students, staff and their families (and pets!) flocked to the photo booth, and took to the stage for karaoke. Tiny treats and "Write an international postcard" were additional attractions to our "Cultivating Cultures"event. Visitors lounged casually on the grass to wrap up the Pangy Day activities.
Wednesday, March 9 from 6:00pm-7:00pm, LRC lounge
The LRC hosted an informal event for lovers of language-learning. Various mini-booths were set up to help students explore the eccentricities of world languages. The highlights of the evening were: A competition to clearly enunciate tongue-twisters, a language trivia station, a Guess-the-Language game, and a crafts station to explore nuances of foreign words and scripts.
Friday, February 11, LRC lounge
Argentinian Night was based on the celebration of Carnival occurring in Latin America. An event celebrating Argentina was especially relevant since Mount Holyoke College was hosting ten Fullbright students from that country. Stations were set up to allow students to engage in fun activities related to Argentine culture. The highlights of the night were "mate" (Argentinian tea), älfajores (a type of pastry), board games, and the photobooth.
