101st Annual Mount Holyoke College Christmas Vespers

Saturday, December 2, 2000 (All day)
The Christmas season is a time of joy, and this year Mount Holyoke College students are celebrating with the annual Vespers concert, the theme of which is "All my heart this night rejoices." This concert features nearly ten percent of the MHC student body, including members of the Mount Holyoke College Glee Club, Chamber Singers, Concert Choir and English Handbell Choir. The program will include the traditional candlelit processional and audience carols, as well as a string quartet, a student duet, and a dance performance.

The music to be performed covers a vast range of both time and tradition. The compositions are taken both from the classical repertory, such as works by Mozart and Brahms; and from more contemporary sources, including works by several American composers. Traditional favorites like Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Our Desiring" and an arrangement of Gruber's "Silent Night" are set next to African and Norwegian carols. Come and join the students of Mount Holyoke College in a delightful celebration of the Christmas season.
