Cadi McCarthy, a critically acclaimed dancer, choreographer, director, and educator based in Canberra, Australia, will teach a master class at Mount Holyoke May 1. During her visit to the Pioneer Valley, she will also teach master classes, observe classes, and attend performances at Mount Holyoke, Amherst, and Hampshire colleges.
McCarthy has been involved professionally in the Australian dance industry since 1996, when she graduated from the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts. She was the recipient of the 2004 and 2006 Canberra Critics Circle Awards in dance. In 2007, McCarthy was awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship from Australia, an international travel grant that allowed her to tour to dance companies and organizations across the globe. She holds a master's in education and has an extensive knowledge and range of skills in performance, choreography, and production.
