Articles written by Christopher Benfey, Andrew W. Mellon Professor of English and interim dean of faculty, have been published in the New York Review of Books and the NYRB Blog. In a piece for the NYRB Blog, Benfey examines the nineteenth-century tradition of creating and keeping scrapbooks; an activity he contends was a precursor to modern digital information management. Benfey also explores the life and violence of John Brown, the abolitionist who led a raid on an armory in Harpers Ferry in 1859, in an essay in the New York Review of Books.

Benfey also gave the keynote address at the recent American Craft Council's annual gathering in Baltimore.
