The Greenfield Recorder and the Springfield Republican are among the media outlets that have recently reviewed Corinne Demas’s new young-adult novel “Returning to Shore.”

In her latest novel, MHC Professor of English Corinne Demas visits in literary form the place she spends each summer—Cape Cod. Returning to Shore explores the nuances of 15-year-old Claire’s relationship with her estranged father. He is known as the “town crazy person,” and learning to understand him makes Claire reconsider everything, Demas says.

The plot whisks Claire away to a tiny island off Cape Cod to spend the summer with her father—a man she hasn’t seen since she was three. As she explores both the magical marsh island and her mysterious father, Claire’s summer becomes less of an exile and more of a return.
