Does sincerity matter more than the truth?

Elizabeth Markovits, professor of politics, was interviewed for “The Sham of Donald Trump’s Straight Talk,” an article in The New Republic's May 3, 2018, issue.

An expert in political speech and rhetoric, Markovits has written extensively about the topics. Her first book was “The Politics of Sincerity: Plato, Frank Speech, and Democratic Judgment.” Her op ed,  “Trump ‘tells it like it is.' That’s not necessarily a good thing for democracy,” was published in the The Washington Post on March 4, 2016.
