A human resources professional who most recently created the function and organizational culture for a fast-growing biotech startup is joining Mount Holyoke College as the new executive director of human resources.
Heidi Friedman joins the College from Boston Heart Diagnostics, where she spent six years helping the company grow from 40 to 450 employees by developing talent acquisition plans and implementing and scaling the human resource programs, systems and infrastructure to meet business needs.
“We are fortunate to have someone with Heidi’s skill and experience join Mount Holyoke,” said Shannon Gurek, vice president for finance and administration. “She will help us align our hiring and retention programs and practices as we continue implement the Plan for Mount Holyoke 2021.”
A Massachusetts native, Friedman is a graduate of Simmons College and has a master’s of education in human resources management from Cambridge College in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
She is replacing Interim Director Linda Samano, who is retiring after working at the College for 22 years.
“I am thrilled to be joining Mount Holyoke College,” Friedman said “I'm very passionate about educating women leaders, personally and professionally. I am impressed by Mount Holyoke's collaborative environment and look forward to working with faculty and staff to attract, support and engage a highly qualified and diverse workforce.”
Mount Holyoke owes a debt of gratitude to Linda Samano, who stepped into the Interim Director role a year ago, just as she was looking toward retirement, Gurek said. “Linda has led the office with great skill and poise. We will all miss her and we wish her well in her new life.”
