On Friday, October 30, the Mount Holyoke College Kachimushi Naginata Club will host a lecture by Ban Ebisawa, a world-renowned expert in Naginata, a Japanese martial art that was originally for women. A Tokyo native, Ebisawa-sensei has been actively involved in Naginata for more than 40 years. He has contributed to the international Naginata community by conducting seminars in Belgium, England, and Italy.

His lecture, which will be held at 7:30 pm in Kendade 203, will be open to all Mount Holyoke students and will focus on the history of Naginata and other Japanese martial arts, including how it evolved. The lecture will be conducted in Japanese with English translations. Students will be able to enhance their Japanese language skills by talking to Ebisawa-sensei.
