Leading with Lynn at Nuestras Raices Farm

Just one day before the start of her inaugural celebration, President Pasquerella took to the outdoors as part of a service event, Leading with Lynn, to help prepare the fields at Nuestras Raices Farm for the annual Harvest Festival on Saturday, September 25.

Students and staff were on hand to help out with this CAUSE-sponsored event. President Pasquerella helped rake mulch with several students, talking about academics and student life as they worked. Nearby, Alan Bloomgarden, coordinator of the Community-Based Learning (CBL) program in the Weissman Center for Leadership, worked on constructing tents for the upcoming festivities.

Anita Magovern, CAUSE advisor and Catholic chaplain, said that all this work is being done in conjunction with Holyoke Bound, a Five College program offering an orientation on Saturday for members of the college community who are working, interning, and volunteering in Holyoke. Program participants will meet in the morning for a lecture and panel discussion and then adjourn to Nuestras Raices to have lunch with the Holyoke community at the farm.
