The Mount Holyoke College Chamber Singers will present a spring concert on Sunday, April 27, at 2 pm in Skinner Chapel at the United Congregational Church of Holyoke.
The performance will include pieces by Victoria, Tavener, Grieg, Peter Schickele, and Jan-Åke Hillerud, as well as selections from Hugo Distler's Der Jahrkreis. The program will culminate in a presentation of Josef Rheinberger's Mass in E-flat (Reginae Sancti Rosarii) for women's choir and organ. College organist and professor of music Larry Schipull will also be featured.
The Chamber Singers is a highly select chamber choir of 12-16 voices drawn from the Mount Holyoke Glee Club and Chorale. The group specializes in challenging repertory from the twentieth and tenth centuries, but regularly performs works from varied musical periods and genres. Mount Holyoke's choral director Kimberly Dunn Adams directs the ensemble.
Located at 395 High Street in Holyoke, Massachusetts, the United Congregational Church of Holyoke is one of the oldest established churches in Holyoke and hosts a spectacular concert series every year in both the main sanctuary and Skinner Memorial Chapel.
The event is free and open to the public. A suggested donation of $10 ($5 for students and seniors) is welcome. For more information, call Kimberly Dunn Adams at 413-538-2018.
