MHC Equestrians Head to Nationals

Once again Mount Holyoke's hunt seat equitation and dressage teams won their respective regional titles and are headed to national championship competitions. The Intercollegiate Dressage Association Nationals will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinberg, North Carolina, this weekend, April 29 and 30. In team competition the College will be represented by: Asheley Ireland '08 (team captain) at First Level, Valerie Shepard '06 at Upper Training Level, Ana Shreck '09 at Lower Training, and Janne Metzner-Gore '08 at Introductory Level. Seven riders will compete as individuals: Asheley Ireland at First Level, Katie Herbst '06 and Valerie Shepard at Upper Training, Ana Shreck, Lucy Cheney '08, and Sara Robison '08 in Lower Training, and Janne Metzner-Gore in Introductory Level.

The hunt seat team will compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals, which will be held this year in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, May 4-7. Riding for the team will be: Kelly Reardon '07 in Walk-Trot, Sara Royston '06 in Walk-Trot-Canter, Melissa Rabbitt '06 in Novice Flat, Marie Hilliard '07 in Novice Fences, Crissey Hewitt '06 in Intermediate Flat, and Kyla Makhloghi '06 in both Open Flat and Open Fences. Nathalie Cooper '07 (Open Flat), Crissey Hewitt (Intermediate Fences), Christine Gunn '07 (Novice Fences), and Danielle Johnson '07 (Walk-Trot) will compete as individuals.
