MHC Meets with Shandong Delegation

A delegation from China's Shandong Women's University visited Mount Holyoke on Friday, May 31, and met with numerous members of the Mount Holyoke faculty and administration to discuss collaboration between the two schools, both of which are members of the Women's Education Worldwide consortium.  

The visit, which included tours of the library and art museum and a briefing on the school's marketing and communications efforts, concluded with a lunch at President Lynn Pasquerella's house.  

Among the attendees at the lunch were, from left to right: Yu Shuzhong, Shandong's dean of the Department of Art and Design; Hou Sumei, Shandong's director of the President’s Office; MHC Professor of Asian Studies Ying Wang; Joanne Picard, MHC's dean of International Studies; Shandong President Fan Suhua; President Pasquerella; Elizabeth McCaffrey, assistant director of Admission; Kevin McCaffrey, director of Community and Government Relations;  Jonathan Lipman, Felicia Gressitt Bock Professor of Asian Studies; and Li Xiaoqin of Shandong Women's University.  

The two schools signed an agreement marking their commitment to seek opportunities to collaborate in a number of areas, including faculty exchanges and joint events.
