Mount Holyoke Names Lori Hendricks Associate Athletics Director
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (June 5, 2007) - Laurie Priest, Director of Athletics at Mount Holyoke College, announced Monday that MHC alum Lori Hendricks will serve as the new Associate Athletics Director. "Lori brings a broad range of knowledge in intercollegiate athletics and higher education as well as the administrative skills to be successful in this post. I am pleased to welcome her back to campus and know that she will bring great energy, enthusiasm and experience to our department and the college," says Priest.
Hendricks, class of 1992, returns to her alma mater after most recently serving as the Associate Director at the National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good since 2002. She facilitated the development of plans to address issues of access to higher education, educational retention and success, and the public service role of higher education. Hendricks simultaneously pursued a Ph.D. at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, concentrating her studies in Higher Education Administration.
After graduating from Mount Holyoke College, Hendricks traveled to South Africa where she worked as a coach and physical educator as a part of the WorldTeach/Score Program. In 1995, Hendricks received a Master of Arts degree in Sport Management from The Ohio State University. While at OSU, she served as the Recreational Sports Graduate Administrative Assistance Associate and Department of Athletics Marketing intern. In 1996, Hendricks was named the Education Outreach Program Coordinator for the NCAA, where she oversaw the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program. Hendricks has also served as a facilitator for the NCAA Division II Student Athlete Leadership Action Academy and as a Special Consultant to the Knight Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics.
