Mount Holyoke President Lynn Pasquerella has offered a participation challenge to the class of 2011--Lynn's Senior Challenge--in which she will give $5 to the Senior Gift Fund at this year's Commencement for each and every senior who makes a gift to the same fund.
Members of the class of 2011 are invited to take part in Senior Gift Week through Thursday, March 31, from 11 am to 2 pm and 6 to 8 pm in Blanchard. Students can stop by to make their gift and/or vote on a designation for the senior gift. Votes can also be cast online.
With approximately 570 students in the class of 2011, Pasquerella could be giving as much as $2,850 to the Senior Gift Fund when the class graduates on May 22. There were already 90 donors prior to the launch of the campaign this week, bringing the president's gift to a minimum of $450.
"This participation challenge will demonstrate the importance of each and every gift made by a student," said Allison Butler '05, annual funds officer and senior gift advisor. "We want the Senior Class Board and those seniors involved in raising the gift to know their work is respected and valued by the College. And we want class members to know gifts of every size count and are very much appreciated."
Class officers are targeting a participation rate of at least 60 percent in their campaign. Seniors who bring two friends to the gift tables during Senior Gift Week to vote will be given a class of 2011 T-shirt.
Pasquerella will host a senior cocktail reception for all members of the class of 2011 at her home on Thursday, April 28 from 6 to 8 pm.
