Milkweed Editions has recently published the second edition of The Colors of Nature: Culture, Identity, and the Natural World, coedited and with an introduction by MHC environmental studies professor Lauret Savoy. This new edition features an essay by alumna Aileen Suzara ’06, a former student Savoy asked to contribute to the book. Suzara’s work appears alongside that of several prominent authors, including Jamaica Kincaid, Yusef Komunyakaa, bell hooks, and Franciso X. Alarcón, among others. The anthology explores the relationships between culture, place, and identity, which historically have been overlooked in traditional environmental writing.
