Solar Electric Light Fund- Washington DC
The Solar Electric Light Fund (SELF) is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit whose mission is to design and implement solar energy solutions to assist those living in energy poverty with their economic, educational, health care and agricultural development. As the Development Director, I researched grantors that could fund our projects. At the end of the internship I was able to draft a proposal to be submitted to the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
As the Development Intern, my responsibilities included researching potential donors (foundations and individuals), drafting a brief passage for our website, attending various workshops dealing with proposal writing and updating the foundation master (listing of all foundations in the database). I expected to learn a good amount and my expectations were fulfilled!
