I worked as a volunteer in the rehabilitation center tending to injured, abandoned, oiled, or otherwise incapacitated seabirds/penguins. Daily tasks included cleaning, feeding, administrating medication to, and hydrating the seabirds in the center as well as other cleaning and maintenance necessary for the sustained function of the center. The most rewarding part of my work at SANCCOB was when I would walk outside after a nine (or more) hour day, covered in fish formula, aching from head to toe, sporting a bird bite or two, knowing that I had put my all into another long, taxing day of seabird rehabilitation and feeling proud of what I had accomplished.
