Roosevelt Institute Chicago Academy
Thanks to UAF funding I received through the Miller Worley Center for the Environment I was able to participate in the Roosevelt Institute Campus Network Summer Academy in Chicago. Not only did I experience living on my own in a new city, I was placed at the City of Chicago’s Department of the Environment where I assisted the department implementing new recycling initiatives. I was also able to participate in policy research and writing trainings led by the Roosevelt Institute Campus Network, culminating in a policy proposal I wrote and then presented at an end of summer gala. Ultimately, not only did I have the opportunity to develop professional skills, the other fellows I worked with have become great friends of mine.
