Harvard Forest - Petersham, Ma
Major: Environmental Studies Concentration: Conservation
Interning at Harvard Forest for three months helped to further my understanding of forest ecology in New England and, fully immerse myself in the details of the LTER (long term ecological research) site I worked on. The title of my project was called 'Twenty years of vegetation response to an experimental hurricane,' and I spent the majority of my Summer collecting extensive vegetation data in two plots for my mentor Audrey Barker-Plotkin. The opportunity to be in the field daily was my favorite part because I could watch the forest plots I was working in change over the summer while incorporating my understanding of the sites history into my work.
