Nayana Bose ’90

Nayana Bose is an external relations and communications officer with the UN Refugee Agency, known as UNHCR. Currently working in New Delhi for UNHCR’s Geneva headquarters, her recent postings include Kabul and Ankara. Her work takes her deep into the field such as to the Turkey–Syria border, listening to and documenting the lives of refugees from Syria, and to the Afghan–Pakistan border in Khost province.

Prior to her international work with UNHCR, Bose worked in the UNHCR New Delhi office for more than a decade, publicizing the lives of refugees in India and advocating for their rights and protection.

She has also worked with the Ford Foundation in New Delhi as a program associate in the media and culture and water and forestry programs. She began her career as journalist at India Today and in London with the BBC World Service.

Bose holds an MPhil from the University of Cambridge. She graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1990 with a BA in international relations and economics.
