Roopa Purushothaman

Roopa Purushothaman recently joined Tata & Sons as chief economist and head of policy advocacy. She had been the head of research at Everstone since 2006. She began her career at Goldman Sachs, where she oversaw research on a broad range of investment-related areas, including long-term growth, global trade and migration across BRIC nations: Brazil, Russia, India and China. She holds a bachelor’s degree in ethics, politics and economics and international studies from Yale University and a master’s degree in development studies from the London School of Economics. She is the founder of the Avasara Academy, a school that develops the leadership potential of India’s brightest young women.
