Spanish—the second-most spoken language in the United States today and one of the three most spoken languages in the world—has become an integral part of civic engagement and global citizenship. Not only mastery of the language but also nuanced understanding of the places where it is spoken have been an important component of success for many Mount Holyoke graduates. Indeed, recent studies have shown that language majors have been the most successful of all in the pursuit of their desired careers. Mount Holyoke graduates in Spanish have gone into fields such as government, law, business, international affairs, education, journalism, medicine, and the performing arts. The requirements for the major and minor can be found on the Programs page.
