Gail Berson

Vice President for Enrollment, Dean of Admission

Serving as Mount Holyoke’s chief enrollment officer since July 2015, Gail Berson oversees admission, enrollment management, and student financial services. She works collaboratively and directly with other vice-presidents on a number of special initiatives, including but not limited to Mount Holyoke’s participation in the Posse Foundation partnership, on integrated marketing communications, strategic planning, and convenes the Enrollment Management Group, a cross-divisional initiative to improve enrollment prediction. Gail serves as a member of the president’s cabinet.

With over 35 years' experience, Ms. Berson is a recognized expert in her field. She has held appointments at University of San Francisco, Mills College, served as Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, and has done educational consulting and worked as a college counselor at an independent school. She is a frequent speaker across the country at high school parent programs. Recently, she completed a term as a College Board trustee, and she continues to serve on their national committees for Governance, Membership, and as vice-chair of their ad-hoc By-laws review committee.

A magna cum laude graduate of Bowdoin College with a master’s degree from Emerson College, Ms. Berson has volunteered on local boards and agencies as well as serving as a past president of the Bowdoin College Alumni Council.
