Nexus students are required to present at the LEAP (Learning from Application) Symposium, a campus-wide event that brings together faculty, students, staff, family, friends, and alumnae to hear students present their experiences from around the corner and around the world. A central element of the College's curriculum to career experience, the LEAP Symposium showcases Mount Holyoke students' internships and summer research experiences.
Kimberlyn Fong ’15 of Miami, Florida, interned at NBC Universal in New York City, and “developed a newfound appreciation for the liberal arts curriculum that has allowed me to combine both psychology and media.” She now hopes to pursue a career in TV and film production.
Erica Keller ’15 of Lakewood, Wisconsin, did original astronomy research on gas ejected from galaxies, and says the work helped her “feel much more confident in my abilities to speak in the professional environment of astronomy.” It also changed her career trajectory from scientific research to science instruction, a field she says aligns more closely with her values and goals.
