Volunteer Activities Schedule

An AAR’s activities best amplify the efforts of the Office of Admission when they mirror our yearly recruitment cycle: fall travel, winter application reading, spring yield of admitted students, summer outreach.  An AAR’s suggested schedule of activities, then, is as follows:

Fall

While admission staff are traveling, alumnae might:

  • Email or write students on the inquiry list (available by request) letting them know of your availability to serve as a resource as they explore MHC
  • Encourage interested students to sign up for a campus visit or Shadow Day or, if a senior, to call the Office of Admission and arrange an overnight any Sunday-Thursday in October
  • Attend college fairs to speak with high school students about Mount Holyoke
  • Arrange and conduct interviews for students who have requested an alumna interview
  • Host events for prospective students and parents
  • Connect strong prospective student-athletes with Mount Holyoke athletic coaches via our “Recruit Me” tool

Winter

While students are finishing applications and admission staff are reviewing applicants from their territory, alumnae should:

  • Continue to meet with students requesting alumnae interviews up until the interview deadline of January 20

Spring

As seniors consider their college options and the College hosts Experience MHC and other admitted student visit options, alumnae can:

  • Congratulate accepted students in April, encouraging students to attend our admitted student visit programs and answering any questions they might have
  • Host events for admitted students – invite other alumnae, current students, and parent volunteers
  • Attend spring college fairs for high school juniors as requested by the Admission Office
  • Encourage sophomores and juniors on the inquiry list (available by request) to sign up for a campus visit and information session
  • Connect strong prospective student-athletes with Mount Holyoke athletic coaches via our “Recruit Me” tool

Summer

During this season, alumnae can:

  • Continue to cultivate relationships with students of all class years on the inquiry list
