Our Chinese Language Floor consists of a community of students dedicated to improving their Mandarin language skills and learning about Chinese culture through creative and collective efforts. Community members are exposed to Mandarin language and Chinese culture through events and activities that take place both in and outside of the residence hall.
In the past year, the Chinese Language Floor has organized a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration, along with dumpling-making, calligraphy lessons, Chinese paper-cutting, and guest lectures on Chinese culture.
A language assistant lives on the floor to create a vital link with the cosponsoring department. Living on the Chinese Language Floor also means that any questions about Chinese can be answered by our Chinese Language Assistant. Every two weeks, we will be screening a Chinese film (snacks provided!) with an optional post viewing discussion with our Language Assistant and other fellow residents.
The Chinese Language Floor will be located in Mandelle Hall beginning in Fall 2017. Students interested in applying to live on the Chinese floor must contact the Office of Residential Life.
