Holly Mitchell ’13, a recent graduate of Mount Holyoke College, has won the 2017 Amy Award from Poets & Writers magazine. She is one of four writers recognized this year.
The award, which is given to promising women poets who are 30 years old or younger, honors the memory of Amy Rothholz, an actor and poet. In addition to a modest honorarium, the winners are granted a reading in New York City.
Mitchell told Baltimore Review that her work is created by “exploring the failures, language, and knowledge,” of her life experience.
She studied English at Mount Holyoke, which awarded her the Gertrude Claytor Prize of the Academy of American Poets.
