200 Celebrate Legacy of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.


Dance Connecticut's Youth Performance Project, a troupe of children from inner-city Hartford, danced at the King celebration on January 20. It also featured the Bamidele Drummers of Amherst and a reflection on King's "I Have a Dream" speech by the Rev. Robert Grant, a retired minister from Northampton. More than 200 people attended the event in Abbey Chapel.

Crystal Hayes FP, with her nine-year-old daughter, Myaisha, at her side, spoke about King's unfinished work.

Joyful Noise Gospel Choir of Northampton, whose members include acting president Beverly Daniel Tatum (center), helped celebrate the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King.
