Ani DiFranco is coming to Mount Holyoke! She'll perform in Chapin Auditorium on April 30. Tickets for the MHC community went on sale January 26, one week in advance of any other public sales. For more information, go to

Thanks to the Environmental Action Coalition and student Eco-Reps, Mount Holyoke will participate in Recyclemania, a ten-week nationwide competition to see which college campus can collect the largest amount of recyclables. This year's competition, which starts January 30 and runs through April 9, includes 49 colleges and universities. Each of the Five Colleges is participating for the first time. At the end of the competition, the campus with the highest recycling rate per person receives a trophy, as well as a half-page spot in the newspaper of every participating college and university. Scorekeeping will be done by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's WasteWise program, the sponsors of the event. MHC will be measuring by dorm. Student volunteers will tally the results and submit them to Nancy Apple, the director of safety and environmental affairs. The dorm with the highest rate of recycling per student will receive a prize. For more information, go to
