Foundation for Contemporary Mental Health; Washington, DC, is accepting applications for its Summer Mental Health Internship Program. Qualified internship candidates will have completed their junior year and taken a course in abnormal psychology, and will be interested in a career in mental health. Interns will be placed at day hospitals or inpatient psychiatric settings and work under the direction of a nursing supervisor. Possible placements include Psychiatric Institute of Washington DC, George Washington University Day Treatment Program, and Charter at Potomac Ridge, Rockville, MD. This internship is unpaid. Brown University, Department of Chemistry; Providence, RI, has internships for students who have completed two years of introductory chemistry. Interns will work closely with faculty on research projects of mutual interest. Possible projects include mechanisms and enzymology of natural product biosynthesis, laser-based analytical instrumentation development, organometallic models for hydrodesulfurization, and the design of chiral acylation catalysts for the resolution of racemic alcohols. Princeton University, Plasma Physics Laboratory; Princeton, NJ, is accepting applications for its Summer Research Opportunities in Plasma Physics and Engineering Program. Candidates must be from historically black colleges and universities, women's colleges, or other institutions that serve minorities. Interns will begin the program with two weeks of laboratory instruction. They will then be assigned to a research team working in an area of the laboratory's fusion-energy research. A stipend of $3,600, housing, and reimbursement for travel expenses will be provided. Application deadline is March 29.
