The registrar's office: it's not just for beginning-and-end-of-the-semester information anymore. Through the office's new web site at http://www.mtholyoke.edu/offices/reg/, you can get information at any time on degree requirements, ordering transcripts, dates of this year's faculty meetings, and academic deadlines. You can also check the academic calendars section (first-year students, you'll be graduating on May 21, 2000!) and the list of religious holidays.
But the best part is the "myths and misconceptions" section that's part of the "degree requirements" link. Among the persistent rumors are these false beliefs: "If you major in an interdisciplinary area, you can't declare a minor" and "A course used as part of your major cannot also count for distribution." The registrar's site has detailed answers to these and other misconceptions about regulations.
