Winterfest Door Prizes Needed

The Winterfest Committee is in the planning stages for this year's celebration. At this time, the committee is gathering door prizes from local vendors. Donations of door prizes from anyone in the College community are welcomed. All donors' names will be posted at Winterfest. This is a great way for all of you who might have home businesses to get a bit of free advertising. If you are interested in donating, contact one of the Winterfest Committee members: Dina Bevivino, dining services; John Bowen, bookstore; Barbara Downey, alumnae office; Rosemary Jackson, office of diversity and inclusion; Dawn Larder, economics and environmental studies; Dee Messier, chemistry; Kathy Monat, development; Ellen Shukis, botanic gardens; and Imad Zubi, Willits-Hallowell.

Spotlight Mount Holyoke

On October 19 and 20, the admission office will welcome high school juniors and seniors to campus for Spotlight Mount Holyoke 1997. Prospective students and their parents can experience our community firsthand. The admission office will "spotlight" academic life, athletic and extracurricular opportunities, and the residential living experience. Spotlight will offer our visitors insight into MHC's unique offerings and dynamic student body. Students will attend classes, spend the night in residence halls, and attend several panels to give them a closer look into our community.

Spotlight is a time for the Mount Holyoke community to come together. While the admission office maintains primary responsibility for it, success depends on the assistance of faculty, students, and staff. We will call on students to serve as hostesses for our guests, and ask faculty to participate in panel discussions and to welcome these students into their classes. We ask that you mark Sunday, October 19, and Monday, October 20, on your calendars and join us in welcoming these very special visitors.

Blue Cross/Blue Shield Representative on Campus

Patricia Allen, MHC's Blue Cross/Blue Shield representative, will be available to answer questions, assist with filing claims, and follow up on any filed claims on October 31 from 12:30 to 2:30 pm in Blanchard Campus Center.

Human resources will be able to coordinate scheduled appointments with Allen. Unscheduled visits, i.e., walk-ins, are welcome any time between 12:30 and 2:30 pm, although priority will be given to people with appointments. Call x2503 to schedule an appointment.

January Internship Materials Due

Reminder: All CDC-sponsored January internship materials are due during deadline week, October 21-27. Make good use of counseling appointments, drop-ins, and January critique times to have your materials reviewed before deadline week. All submitted materials--applications, resumes, and cover letters--must be in final form. Good luck.

Physical Education Classes

Physical education classes for the second half of the semester will begin the week of October 27. Activity will begin on the first day of class.
