Summer To-Do List

Before Orientation

  • Make sure you pick up a copy of your first textbook, Americanah, which is this year’s Common Read, to enjoy over the summer and to prepare for your first college-level intellectual discussion during Orientation. Contact orientation@mtholyoke.edu if you need assistance in purchasing the book.
  • Review the recommended Packing List.
  • Order your linens to be delivered to your home or to campus!
  • Submit your housing application by July 20 so you can receive your roommate assignment by August 3.
  • Check your MHC email regularly for important updates. This is the main way we communicate with you over the summer and once you are on campus.
  • Review information on eBills and setting up authorized users to receive the monthly billing notices. 
  • Notify Student Financial Services of any outside scholarships you may be receiving.
  • Students with qualifying health insurance who want to waive the health insurance may do so now (international students may not waive the health insurance).
  • Contact AccessAbility Services if you anticipate needing accommodations.
  • Complete all applicable placement exams.
  • Complete health forms if you haven’t done so already. (Reminder: They were due July 1).
  • Purchase self care items.
  • Check Financial Aid Online and submit all missing financial aid documents if you haven't done so already.
  • Review MHC’s website, and jot down any specific questions you want to ask at Orientation.
  • Make arrangements for all prescription medications to be mailed or transferred to the Pattie Groves Health Center.
  • Complete the CampusClarity education module. You will receive an invitation to complete it before August 13.

During Orientation

  • Attend all scheduled sessions and regularly check the Orientation schedule for updates.
  • Meet with your college advisor.
  • Get your OneCard. A valid photo ID is needed to pick up your card.
  • Wear class colors to Convocation.
  • Sign the Honor Code.
  • Meet at least one person who can be a resource.
  • Ask questions, have fun!

After Orientation

  • Complete Orientation evaluation, which will be sent to you electronically.
  • Learn how to get involved on campus at the Org Fair on Wednesday, September 16.
  • Come to more events, such as Intersections, Six Flags, and Night Fest.
  • Save the date for Friends & Family Weekend.
