Katie Lipp works with Mount Holyoke students and alumnae interested in the health professions and oversees all pre-health programming at Mount Holyoke. She can provide guidance on course selection, academic and extracurricular preparations for professional school applications, and general exploration of the health care field. She advises all MHC applicants to professional schools who seek support of the pre-health office.
Katie received her B.A. in anthropology from Bates College, her M.Ed. in social justice education from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and a Certificate in Outdoor Leadership from Greenfield Community College. She has taught and advised students in a variety of educational settings in high school and higher education, including teaching English in Eastern Europe and advising international students in the United States. Katie spent seven years at Smith College where she served as director of Smith's prehealth program and administered programs aimed at increasing equity, access and diversity in STEM fields. Before taking on the Pre-Health Director role here at MHC, she worked for three years as a part-time advisor in the MHC pre-health office.
Out of the office, Katie devotes her time to her young sons, Sam and Ari, and their dog, Sunny. When the boys are older, Katie hopes to reacquaint herself with some of her favorite pursuits such as reading, canoeing, rock climbing and growing vegetables in her backyard, but for the time being she is more focused on finger paints, wagon rides, and lots of toddler hugs.
