Working with faculty across all disciplines to find funding opportunities. Assist in the preparation, internal approval, and final submission of proposals to fund faculty research. Federal funding award compliance.

Laura Bundesen came to Mount Holyoke College in 2012 from New York University (NYU) where she was the Assistant Director of Sponsored Projects at the Courant Institute for seven years. In this capacity, she was responsible for supervising a staff of six, in support of all pre- and post- award sponsored research activities for 90 mathematics and computer science faculty overseeing an annual portfolio of $15M in research grants, funded primarily by federal agencies.

Prior to NYU, Laura had a long career specializing in non-profit management, including: Controller of Women In Need, New York, NY;  Executive Director of the Art School at Old Church in Demarest, NJ; and Managing Director of POV, the nonprofit PBS independent film series, New York, NY.  She had her own nonprofit financial management consulting business for over ten years with clients that included New York International Festival of the Arts, Center for Safety in the Arts, American Bureau for Medical Advancement in China and the Ms. Foundation, among others.

Laura holds a part time position at Mount Holyoke College, and also works as an independent exhibiting artist. She specializes in making neuroscience inspired art through a unique combination of fabric collage, hand embroidery and paint.
