Shannon D. Gurek

Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer

Shannon Gurek joined Mount Holyoke College as Vice President for Finance and Administration and Treasurer in August 2013.  As the College’s chief financial officer, she oversees Budget and Treasury Management, the Comptroller’s Office, Facilities Management, Human Resources, Dining Services, Conference Services, Auxiliary Services, Environmental Health and Safety (shared with Hampshire College) and Risk Management (performed by Five Colleges Incorporated).  She also provides oversight for outside counsel relationships, the College's endowment and its non-campus real estate holdings.

Previously, Gurek was the associate treasurer at Amherst College; she has been associated with Amherst College since being hired as assistant comptroller in 1996. In addition to being the associate treasurer and director of the budget for the last decade, she served as the college’s interim treasurer this past year; she was also the college’s comptroller for two years prior to assuming her current position.

A Certified Public Accountant, Gurek holds an undergraduate degree in business administration, summa cum laude, from Nichols College, and an M.B.A. from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She grew up in Athol, Mass., and currently resides in South Hadley with her husband and three daughters.
