Explore the value of trust, relationship, performance, and motivation in our classrooms through a variety of experiences including video, reflection, discussion, and rolling-up-the-sleeves activities. We will look at the world of motivation with the aid of authors such as Paul Tough, Carol Dwek, and Daniel Pink, analyzing the variables affecting educator and student performance in our PreK-12 classrooms. This class will begin with motivation from a ground-level perspective, looking at classroom and behavior management, then shift to a policy level, focusing on the impacts of accountability systems and value-added models on teacher performance. Video-conferencing with nationally recognized teacher leaders and education policy experts will be a key component of this class.
