The M.A.T. in Teacher Leadership program supports educators who want to help build their school’s capacity for success, support professional growth amongst their peers, or serve in a leadership role at the local, state, or national level. Designed for full-time teachers, students have the option of completing this 32-credit program online in the evenings or attending some sessions on our campus.
It is one of the programs offered by the Mount Holyoke Programs in Teacher Leadership, which also includes four Professional Development Institutes. All the Teacher Leadership programs build off the Teacher Leader Model Standards and are completely accessible online, with both real time class meetings and asynchronous components. Mount Holyoke’s unique partnership with the National Network of State Teachers of the Year, yields powerful educational opportunities collaborating with current teacher leaders in the field.
Our curriculum emphasizes equity, advocacy, and collaboration. Courses emphasize content that can be personalized and immediately applied in practice. The program culminates in a capstone project, guided by your personal leadership goals and specifically designed for implementation in your classroom classroom, school, community, or beyond.
The curriculum also prepares students for National Board Candidacy or to apply for and may be used to build subject matter knowledge in support for a Massachusetts Professional License (for elementary 1-6; middle school math/science 5-8).
Tuition is $766/credit; the total tuition cost for the 24-month program is $24,500. Scholarships are available.
We are committed to making this opportunity accessible for teachers. Mount Holyoke's Office of Student Financial Services works closely with students to share different financing options available to best suit their individual needs.
