Emily was born and raised in Western Massachusetts, only minutes away from the Mount Holyoke campus. She graduated in 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, allowing her to become fluent in Spanish. In 2014, Emily studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain. She hopes to return to Spain or travel to South America to teach in the future.
Prior to that in 2013, she received her Associates degree in early childhood education. With that, she was able to teach preschool at a private school here in South Hadley for a little over a year. From a young age, Emily knew that she wanted to teach. Although Emily wants to teach kindergarten or first grade, she tutors quite regularly at the secondary level. Her favorite content areas are math, English Language Arts, and Spanish.
In her free time, Emily loves playing tennis with her best friend any chance she gets. She also runs, kayaks, and camps regularly throughout the summer. Emily has a passion for traveling, and can’t wait to do more of it in the future. Emily is extremely excited to inspire and collaborate with the next generation of learners. Emily believes in self-directed learning and creating an active, meaningful curriculum.
